Creating Modern Magic in a Small Duplex Space

This time, we introduce a residential unit in Tai Kok Tsui, with a space of just over 200 square feet. Although the male homeowner lives alone, he often invites friends over for gatherings, so he has certain requirements for the design and layout of his space. Despite the unit's small size, its high ceiling allows the designer to work magic with the space, nearly doubling the usable area through spatial planning, instantly enhancing the sense of space!

Redesigning the space to create a small loft

With a ceiling height of 3.5 meters, the space, although not large, still feels spacious. To overcome the limitations of space, the designer added a small loft to the space, expanding it by nearly 150 square feet. The duplex design significantly increases the usable area. The loft not only serves as the homeowner's 'bedroom' but also provides ample storage space to neatly stow away miscellaneous items. Like a magician, the designer has conjured up a more spacious and comfortable living space for the homeowner.

Minimalism x Texture

This case embodies the minimalist and practical style of Monoo, with light colors as the main theme. A light gray fabric sofa, bright white walls, and wooden furniture create a comfortable and minimalist atmosphere in the space. Additionally, with one side of the unit entirely made up of floor-to-ceiling windows, abundant natural light makes one feel even more at ease. Furthermore, minimalist map wall art and white feature brick walls add texture, infusing a hint of fashionable exoticism into the simplicity, reflecting the homeowner's taste.

Outdoor Space - The Best Place to Welcome Friends and Family

While the L-shaped sofa and adjacent open kitchen are suitable for gatherings and chats with friends, the spacious outdoor area exudes a more relaxed vibe. The homeowner had already secured a connected outdoor platform when purchasing the unit, and the designer created a comfortable and leisurely gathering space for him. It's a place for the homeowner to chat with friends over drinks, host barbeque parties, watch sports events, and enjoy a small sanctuary.
